about

We have actually undertaken the daunting task of re-learning and re-working all of these songs, and after at least a year of hard work, the recording is done. We will share the official album shortly. Holy shit is it intense...

Our lineup was the same as Malmohrahkign:
Jason Herrmann - Guitars
Jason Strapec - Drums
Travis Weinand - Bass and Vocals

With Syzygy of Skin, we attempted our first concept album. It is about a man, a woman, and an unborn child. Each character has a section of the album, the first four tracks are the man's recollection of the events, the fifth, sixth and seventh are the woman's, and the final track is a spiritual vision from inside the womb. (I know it sounds crazy)

We attempted to create some pretty moving sounds on this album, while still maintaining our technical progression. Thanks to Jason Herrmann and Jason Strapec's mega-brains, it took me (Travis) almost two months to be able to play some of these songs (Lassitude and Index of Refraction). The result was quite impressive though, as the songs on this album were relentless and very emotional lyrically. Performing them live always gave me a shitload of anxiety, but it was always a blast.

We wrote some much longer songs for this album, as we felt it was necessary to tell the story more completely. I think this helped gear Jason Herrmann and myself up mentally for our future endeavor "Burden" (burden.bandcamp.com).
The first two tracks "Her Name Was Hosanna" and "Lysozyme", we recorded demos of back in 2005 with Kevin Antreassian of Backroom Studios and Knife the Glitter fame. Unfortunately we never officially recorded any more of the written material. We worked on this album from 2004, right after the release of Malmorahkign, up until 2010, when I believe we played our last Tetsuo show. I guess we are still working on it subconsciously, and maybe we will record the rest someday. Until then, here is the entire Syzygy of Skin album (sloppily) performed at my parent's old house in what might possibly have been the last Tetsuo practice. Enjoy.
